Tips in finding a wedding dress

Shopping for a wedding dress can be one of the most memorable and enjoyable experiences for brides-to-be. But with so many options out there, it's hard to know where to start. Luckily, these tips will make sure you find your perfect dress at a boutique without any stress!

Determine Your Budget.

Before you start shopping for your perfect wedding dress, it's important to determine your budget. You don’t want to fall in love with a dress only to find out later it’s beyond your price range. Once you have that number in mind, you can easily narrow down the selection of options and make sure you get the best dress for you within your budget.

Do Your Research

Before setting foot in a boutique, do some research into the different types of dresses available. Knowing what’s out there will help you narrow down your choices. Search Pinterest and Instagram for different styles, silhouettes and fabrics, along with browsing catalogues from previous collections. This will give you an idea of the type of dress that is best suited to you and it will also save time when shopping in the store, as you’ll be able to make decisions quickly.

Know Your Body Shape and Size.

It is important to know your body shape and size before going shopping for the perfect wedding dress. Take time to look at yourself in front of a full-length mirror, so you can be confident that you will feel comfortable and beautiful when shopping for your dress. Once you have identified your body shape, measure areas such as your chest, waist and hips, so that when you try on dresses at the boutique they have been cut to fit with exact measurements or an appropriate size

Start Shopping Early.

The earlier you start shopping for your wedding dress, the better. You want to give yourself adequate time to research styles and fabrics, assess quality, and compare prices. Start looking at least eight months before your special day so that you can order with plenty of time in advance should make any necessary customizations or alterations. If a dress is unavailable, there may also be enough time for it to be made from scratch.

Set an Appointment at the Boutique of Your Choice

Before you set out and start trying on wedding dresses, make sure to set up an appointment with the boutique of your choice. Make sure to bring any photos or references of dresses you like, so that the boutique can get an idea of what you’re looking for. Most bridal boutiques require appointments as they want to give brides their undivided attention. When booking an appointment, be sure to ask about dressing room policies, payment methods and potentially any extra costs associated with alterations needed for your dress.
